Historic homes and older pools

The neighborhoods around Stetson University and north of downtown carry some of the oldest housing in the county, and a good number of those homes had a pool put in decades ago. Those pools are often unscreened, shaded by huge oaks, and running on plumbing that's been patched more than once.

The trees are the story there. Leaf load in fall, pollen in spring, and a canopy that keeps the water from getting the sun it needs to stay clear. Filters work harder, chlorine demand is odd, and the plaster is usually stained from years of tannins.

Victoria Park and the newer side

South of town, Victoria Park and the subdivisions off Orange Camp Road went up over the past two decades, and the pools there are a different animal. Screened, cartridge filtered, many on salt, with variable speed pumps and automation.

The common problems in those neighborhoods are salt cells scaling up on hard water and automation panels that nobody has been taught to use. We'll show you what the buttons do.

Lakes and groundwater

Lake Winnemissett, Lake Beresford and the river side of DeLand all carry a high water table. If your pool needs draining for an acid wash or a resurface, we check groundwater before a single gallon comes out.
