Pool resurfacing and tile

When the plaster scrapes your feet and the tile line is falling off, the pool needs more than chemicals.

Signs your pool is ready for resurfacing

Plaster doesn't last forever, and Florida water is hard on it. The first signs are roughness underfoot, gray or brown staining that won't scrub off, and small pits where the surface has worn through to the gunite. Later come hollow spots that sound different when you tap them, and eventually delamination where sheets of plaster lift.

Sometimes an acid wash is the right first step. It strips a thin layer and takes stains with it, and on a surface with life left in it that can buy years. On a surface that's already thin it takes the last of it. We'll tell you which one your pool is after we drain it and look, not before.

  • Acid wash for stained but sound plaster
  • Full resurface in plaster, quartz or pebble finishes
  • Waterline tile replaced, or reset where it's popping
  • Coping and deck work coordinated with the resurface
  • Water rebalanced through the new surface cure

Tile, remodels and the details that last

Waterline tile fails at the bond, not the tile. Once water gets behind a few pieces the rest follow, and calcium builds up on whatever's left. We chip out the old line, prep the bond beam properly, and set new tile so it stays. If you want a different look, this is the moment to change it.

A remodel can be small, new tile and a fresh finish, or it can add a sun shelf, change the steps, or update the equipment at the same time. Since the pool is already drained, doing equipment and plumbing work then saves a second disruption. We'll walk you through what's worth bundling.

The pool is out of use for the drain, prep, surface application, refill, and the cure period where the water needs daily brushing and balancing. We'll give you the real timeline for your pool when we quote it in person.

Standard white plaster is the lowest cost and looks classic. Quartz finishes hold up better to chemistry. Pebble finishes last longest and hide staining but feel different underfoot. We'll show you samples and talk through it.

Often yes. If the plaster is sound and only the tile line has failed, we retile. We'll tell you if the plaster is close enough to done that doing both makes more sense.

With the water table here, draining without a hydrostatic relief valve can float a shell. We check groundwater and open the relief before we drain.

We photograph the roof and show you. If pool resurfacing and tile is not what the roof needs, we say so and quote the work it does need.
