27 of the 36 figures come from a government agency, a federal program, a state statute or a construction permit record. The other 9 are marked Estimate on the card. Those are industry surveys, marketplace price guides and modeled ranges, and they are worth reading as a ballpark and nothing tighter.
Charts are drawn from the same ledger the cards use, so a corrected number moves both at once. Every chart carries the table of numbers underneath it, so nothing on this page rests on a shape you have to squint at. Series colors were checked for color vision deficiency separation before the charts were drawn.
Prices on this page are published national and Florida ranges. They are not a Blue Choice Pools quote. We quote at your pool, in person, after we have looked at the size, the equipment, the enclosure and the trees, because those are the four things that actually move the number.

No agency publishes a standing pool count for those three counties, and we are not going to invent one. What is published is new construction. HBW counted 4,008 new residential pool permits across Central Florida in 2024, with Lake County alone at 961, up 35 percent on the year. Statewide Florida holds an estimated 1,590,000 residential pools, the most of any state.
Heat, sun and rain, in that order. Orlando takes 29.57 inches of rain between June and September, which is 57 percent of the year's total, and every inch of it dilutes your chlorine and drops your stabilizer. The CDC asks for free chlorine at 1 part per million or better and pH between 7.0 and 7.8. A pool that sits at the bottom of that band on a Monday does not stay there through a Thursday storm.
Published survey ranges put Florida monthly pool service around $174, with most homeowners between $127 and $250, and national cleaning-only figures at $80 to $150 a month. Those are marketplace estimates, not our price list. We quote at your pool after we have seen the size, the equipment, the enclosure and the trees, because those four things are what actually move the number.
The federal government already decided that one. Since July 2021 new dedicated pool pumps sold in the United States have to meet efficiency standards that in practice mean variable speed. ENERGY STAR puts a pool pump at as much as $310 a year in electricity and says running the filter 6 hours a day instead of 24 cuts pump energy use by 75 percent.
Chapter 515, the Residential Swimming Pool Safety Act, requires at least one of four features for a new pool to pass final inspection: an approved barrier, a safety pool cover, exit alarms on doors and windows with pool access, or self-closing and self-latching devices on those doors. A barrier has to stand at least 4 feet high with no gap a small child can get under.
