Lake town pools

Eustis wraps around the east shore of Lake Eustis, with the old downtown and Ferran Park right on the water. The neighborhoods near the lake have older homes with pools added over the decades, often on sloped lots that run toward the shore. The breeze off the lake carries bugs and pollen onto the water all year.

Lakefront lots sit on high groundwater. We check the water table before draining any Eustis pool for an acid wash or a resurface, because a shell that floats is a far bigger problem than a stained one.

Every decade of housing

Eustis has homes from the early nineteen hundreds downtown, mid century blocks along the main roads, and subdivisions from the two thousands out toward State Road 19 and the county road. The pools follow the same spread, so a single route through town can include a hundred year old house with a thirty year old pool and a new build with a salt system.

The older pools need plaster and equipment work. The newer ones need steady chemistry and salt cell care on Lake County's hard water.

Hills and drainage

This part of Lake County has real hills, and pools on a slope collect runoff from the yard above them in a storm. Sand and mulch in the pool after every rain is a sign the grading needs attention as much as the filter does.
