Acreage and well water

Much of Sorrento is rural lots along State Road 46 and the roads that run north toward the Ocala forest and south toward the Wekiva. Homes sit on acres with pines and oaks, and the pools are often unscreened and filled from wells. Well water in this corner of Lake County runs high in iron, which stains plaster and turns fill water brown when chlorine hits it.

We test the well when we start on a Sorrento pool and treat the metals first. Without that, every top off leaves a mark on the surface.

The golf communities

Off the highway, the gated golf communities and the newer subdivisions built around them have large screened pools with spas, heaters and automation. Those pools sit in full sun on fairway lots, and fertilizer drift raises phosphates in the water.

The work there is different: salt cells, heaters, automation panels, and keeping the chemistry ahead of the phosphates so the pool stays clear through the summer.

The Wekiva side

Toward the river and the state land, the ground is low and floods in a wet year. If your pool pad went under, the motor and panel need to be looked at before power goes back on, and any drain near the river needs the water table checked first.
