A generation of new pools

Clermont grew from a small citrus town into one of the busiest building booms in Central Florida, mostly from the late nineties on. Kings Ridge, the communities along Hartwood Marsh Road, and the subdivisions climbing the hills south of town all came with screened pools of the same era. Those pools are now old enough that the original plaster is rough and the first round of equipment is failing.

Because so many pools are the same age, we see the same problems over and over: salt cells that need replacing, single speed pumps that should be variable speed, and tile lines starting to pop.

Pools on the hills

Clermont's hills are real, and a pool on a slope has problems flat towns don't. Runoff from the yard above washes sand and mulch into the pool in every storm. Pool decks settle unevenly. And on the high lots the wind off the lakes is stronger, which means more debris on the screen and more chlorine burned off on a sunny afternoon.

The sand is the daily issue. If it isn't vacuumed it wears plaster and clogs filters, so the weekly visit here spends more time on the floor than most.

The Clermont Chain and the water

Lake Minneola and the chain of lakes keep the low parts of town on a high water table, and the fill water across Lake County is hard. Calcium and scale on tile and in salt cells are the chemistry problems we manage most in Clermont.
