One generation of pools

Most of Oviedo's housing went up from the nineties through the two thousands, in Alafaya Woods, the communities along Mitchell Hammock Road, and the streets near the university. The pools were built with the houses, so a huge number of them are now in the same window: original plaster wearing thin, salt cells on their second replacement, and pumps that have earned a variable speed upgrade.

Because the neighborhoods are so uniform, we can usually tell an owner what to expect from their pool before we open the gate. The in person quote is where we confirm it.

The Black Hammock and the rural edge

East of town toward Lake Jesup, the Black Hammock is a different world. Big lots, well water, no screens, and pools that sit under oaks and cabbage palms. Iron in the well water stains the plaster and the debris load is constant.

Those pools need more filter attention and a plan for the fill water. We test wells when we take on a Hammock pool so the chemistry starts from the right place.

Storm season in Oviedo

Oviedo gets some of the heaviest afternoon storms in the county, and the Econlockhatchee side floods in a wet summer. After a big storm a screened pool is full of debris and low on chlorine, and it needs a real visit, not a skim.
